In our first meeting, we presented a difficult situation: We needed to move out of our current home and were on a short timeline, we had a modest budget and a very long list of needs including needing a property with a guest house for soon-to-be-retired grandparents. They never flinched. He listened, asked key questions, and shared his philosophy for serving clients which resonated with us. We felt confident they are the agent for us and within 24 hrs of our first sit-down, he began to communicate with us about potential homes! The team shined in a number of ways. First, Dave is a good teacher. He affirmed the things we understood about real estate but also carefully corrected the misunderstandings we had that were confusing us and the process. Though we were first-timers, he respected our intelligence and trusted us to learn what was necessary to make our deal happen. This was important to help us develop the patience necessary to see our deal through. Second, Dave is an excellent negotiator. (My lender commented that he'd never in all his years seen anyone as good as them. Buying a home is a process that has many twists and turns. Dave walked us through each stage from shopping, to making an offer, on through Escrow. We were always fully informed buyers, duly diligent, and always in the best possible position, we could be in as a result of Dave and his interactions with the sellers he engaged. Third, and maybe most importantly, Dave is an open and honest communicator and a man of character. He never pushed us towards a purchase that was beyond (or problematically-beneath) our budget just to make a deal. During each of the key moments of our process, Tim was available personally to talk, explain and/or reason decisions out with us. We never felt like we had to wonder what was going on, interpret silence, or translate the tone of ambiguous emails. When possible, Tim called. When impossible, we texted. Often. We were fully informed. We learned a lot about real estate through our relationship with them. We were in Escrow twice – and those experiences were instructive. Escrow fell through for reasons beyond our control – as well as that of our RE team. Ultimately, while we felt good about those two homes, the third time was the charm. Looking back, it's clear that all of the experiences leading up to our final purchase were a part of the overall process. We found the perfect home, meeting all of our needs, with the perfect buyers, at just the right time. Our journey was long. Longer than we would have liked.
